Social networking is something that most young people take for granted, but for young people with profound learning disabilities and complex needs it is really difficult to access.

In response to this need, Us in a Bus has created The Bus Stop. This is a weekly opportunity for young people to meet in the community to explore communication and sociability in a relaxed and supportive environment.

We use Intensive Interaction to facilitate The Bus Stop in a way that is fun, easy to access and gives, young, transition-aged people, the chance to meet with others.

We are currently running a programme in Redhill and are looking for more young people who may be interested in participating. They would be required to bring their PA/Carer with them for support if required and we will provide refreshments.

If you are interested please contact Steve Parker on 01737 764774 or email

Christopher’s mum, Jen said:

“Watching Christopher in control of the intensive interaction session was pure beauty on every level. His delighted empowering squeaks were felt by all. It was harmony in action as Christopher took turns to converse with a stamp of a foot, a flick of the fingers, a kick of the wall, a spin. His language!”
